Showdown between two NBA stars
The first showdown of China’s NBA stars was a disappointment, since Yao Ming left the game early due to a foot injury, leaving Yi Jianlian together with the 2010 top NBA draft pick John Wall to lead the Washington Wizards victory against Yao’s Rockets 98 to 91.
The game was Yi first victory since his five games match up with Yao Ming. Yi was able to score 13 points grabbed 7 rebounds and block 4 shots in his 29 minutes into the game. Yao was only able to play 6 minutes into the game, leaving after suffering from a left leg tendon injury. Yao started for the Rockets but was knocked down twice in the game with collisions with JaVale McGee the Wizards center. Yi entered the game two minute after Yao left to go to the Rockets locker room to have his injured leg checked and announced that he won’t be playing in the second half.
More than a 100 million Chinese people watched Yao Ming and Yi Jianlian face off on their first NBA game in 2007. Since then the two Chinese NBA stars have not played against each other since February 2009 because Yao missed the season due to a surgery to his broken left foot. Houston have limited Yao to just 24 minutes a game in hopes to keep him healthy after numerous injuries.
Yi on the other hand was the topic of a video contest, since being named as the Wizards best dressed player chosen for his pre game suit.
