10,000 illegal vehicles apprehended since launched of campaignSince the launch of the campaign against illegal taxis, police and traffic authorities have already apprehended almost 10,000 electric bikes and motorbikes that were being used are taxis in the span of two weeks.

25 teams in Longgang, Bao’an, Guangming and Pingshan New Zone have confiscated 147 vehicles that were illegally used as taxis, these includes 30 buses 90 private cars. 99 people who were using their electric bikes as illegal taxis were detained for resisting arrest and obstructing police duty. The latest incident illegal taxis was a taxi driver trying to escape the police when he was stop in HongMiao Road in Longgang district by the traffic police. he he was trapped the driver made several phone calls to people that were responsible in attacking traffic police and their vehicles. Two officers were injured during the incident.

Nearby police station sent reinforcement to restore order, two persons were detained by the police authorities when one of them claimed to be the owner of the vehicle. Illegal taxis greatly affected the livelihood of licensed taxi drivers and was drawn criticism. To further clamp down on illegal taxi services the transport commission will focus on unlicensed passengers and other type of transportation services. The commission will also set up a database to record the offenders.
