Metro Line 1 extension to open by December
Metro line 1 extension from Shensa Station to Xixiang station will be transferred to Shenzhen metro for trial runs. The transfer marks the completion of the 10.99 kilometer extension that includes nine stations.
The extension trials will begin in December, the Metro line 2 that comes from Luohu Station going to Shenzhen International airport will be opened on June next year. the Metro Qianhai depot is the major part of the transfer, covers an area of 350,000 square meters and will cost about 1.8 billion yuan. The depot is located southwest of Natou Checkpoint and west of Shenzhen railway station. The depot will serve as a maintenance center for Metro line 1,2 and 5.
Residents were then invited to for a test run from Xin’an Station to Xi’xang Station to commemorate the transfer ceremony. Residents now find it easier to go to downtown Shenzhen and Shenzhen airport when the line will be finished. Metro line 2 extension from Window of the World to Chiwan was opened in October with 12 stations.
