Largest solar energy system installed in DuPont factory
A solar energy electric generation system was operational in Guangming New Zone, marking its step in forwarding the development of the new energy industry in Shenzhen. the rooftop system was installed on a 23,000 square meter roof of the main building of a photo voltaic thin film industry.
The factory is owned by DuPont Apollo Ltd., a subsidiary of the chemical industry giant DuPont. the structure is the largest single thin film photo voltaic rooftop installation in China, which consists of 13,000 photo voltaic modules capable of generating 1,48 million kWh of electricity every year with a installed capacity of 1.3 MW. The environmentally friendly solar system can save 542 tons of coals therefore reducing carbon dioxide emissions to around 1,480 tons a year. the solar energy system can produce all the electric supply for the DuPont factory daily operations.
The company hopes to set an example to other companies to reduce dependence on fossil fuels to make better use of solar energy. The solar energy system was a project collaboration between DuPont Apollo and Everbright Environmental Protection Engineering Shenzhen Ltd. A player in the domestic new energy industry in Shenzhen. There is huge potential in exploring renewable energy sources in China and the government have realized the significance of environmental protection and sustainable development.
The project is under the Golden Sun Demonstration Project, a part of a State subsidiary list in which they can receive government subsidiary equivalent to half of their total investment.
