Man caught killing dogs with crossbow
Police have noticed and arrested a man suspected of killing dogs with poisonous darts in the Longgang district. The suspect identified as Qin was driving a blue truck on Kuichong road and panicked when police stopped him and found a dead dog in the back of his truck.
Police also found crossbows equipped with infrared scopes and more than a hundred darts filled with an unidentified poisonous liquid, iron hooks and bars plus other tools. Qin confessed that he have been using the tools to kill dogs in Sanxi village in Kuichong. He also confessed in killing at least ten dogs last November and selling them to dog meat dealers for 5 yuan per 500 grams, the dogs were them sold to different restaurants. Dog meat is highly demanded during winter or when temperatures drops.
Police are now doing test on the poisonous liquid found in Qin’s possession. Earlier reports have said the other dog catchers use sodium cyanide to poison dogs which kills them instantly. City health officials also announced that eating the meat of poisoned dogs is harmful to one’s health since the poisons potency will not be reduced even if the meat is cooked in very high temperatures.
