Bird Watching Contest

Bird Watching ContestWinter in Shenzhen is the best season for bird watching. According to the Shenzhen Bird Watching Association Head, Xu Meng, nearly 400 species of birds can be seen in Shenzhen, one -third of the total in China.

It is in this regard that the Shenzhen Bird Watching Association is organizing a bird watching contest scheduled on Feb. 19, 2011. The contest aims to lure children and adults away from Internet games and help them become close to nature.

The contest is open to families, including expatriates. Child contestants must be above the age of 6.

Prior to the contest, training sessions and outdoor bird watching activities will be conducted.

The finals requires contestants to submit a report listing the birds observed in designated places at designated times. The association will provide facilities without charge.

Interested families can log on to the association’s website at www.szbird.org.cn to fill in the application form and e-mail it to qzguanniao@126.com. Applications will be accepted until Dec. 4.
