Changes in Hong Kong Visa allows more benefits
During the 2010 Shenzhen Hong Kong Cooperation Conference a plan was devised allowing Shenzhen residents without Guangdong hukou to apply for individual visits to Hong Kong. Each travel permit endorsement allows the holder up to three months stay and application can be submitted four times in one year.
Shenzhen Mayor Xu Qin in a meeting with chief secretary for the administration of HKSAR, XU said that around 4 million people living in Shenzhen will qualify under the new arrangement. The implementation of the one year multiple entry individual visit endorsement to Hong Kong more than 4 million Shenzhen permanent residents were able to travel to SAR.
The change is an extension of the rule implemented last year, allowing residence card holders living in Shenzhen for more than a year and have been working in key enterprises to apply for individual visits to Hong Kong. In the next five years the two cities will cooperate in the key industries to further increase cooperation between the two cities.
Both cities have agreed that Shenzhen will take the role of being responsible in the development and management of the Qianhai area, and Hong Kong will provide comments on the development planning and policies.
