City to get more volunteers during th Universiade GamesHong Kong are sending volunteers in preparation for the Universiade games to work as information consultants and foreign language interpreters. During the Games the volunteers will be working at service points at the Hong Kong International Airport, checkpoints, public transport centers and sports venues.

Hong Kong volunteers will help Shenzhen volunteers serve the foreign athletes and visitors. A delegation from Hong Kong volunteers visited Shenzhen offering services with 100 Shenzhen volunteers at the Shenzhen Children’s Hospital in the Futian District, such as children massages, bath and haircuts. This December is the city’s Universiade Service Month in which 160 voluntary activities like street cleaning and training for civil behavior are conducted to the hopes of helping promote the Universiade.

As of now there are 250,000 volunteers and 1,400 sub organizations registered at the city volunteer association. Next year before the Universiade games the city will be recruiting 20,000 event volunteers,, 250,000 city volunteers and around a million social volunteers to help serve the athletes and visitors during the Universiade games. The city also celebrated the International Volunteer Day last week with 235 volunteers activities spread throughout the city.
