Shenzhen Metro to issue newspapers to commuters
Starting January a newspaper will start its issue to serve the Shenzhen Metro commuters according to a strategic agreement made by the Shenzhen Press group and Shenzhen Metro Co. the newspaper will be temporarily titled Metro 8 a.m. will print 200,000 copies a day and will be given free of charge to the commuters.
This strategic cooperation hopes to create a situation where Shenzhen Press Group helps building the city’s Metro culture through the publication covering the city’s Metro network since the city’s existing Metro lines transports 400,000 commuters everyday.
Metro line 2 serves commuters from Window of the World to Chiwan, the extension Line 1 serves from Shenzhen University to Bao’an District will open in the end of December. On the eve of the Shenzhen Universiade Games the Five Metro Lines will be in full operation with a total length of 178 kilometers and to carry more than a million passengers in a single day.
Shenzhen Metro needs a platform to publicize the city’s achievements in the Metro construction and culture, help in introducing Metro news and information, plus updates on the construction of the second and third phase of the Metro network, since the city plans to have 16 Metro Lines with a length of 587 kilometers in total.
