Mountain Marathon ended with 40,000 yuan in donations
The Run for Love Shenzhen Mountain Marathon ended yesterday with more than 3,000 participants joining, including 120 expats and residents coming from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The charity mountain marathon is done to raise funds for a youth education program.
The marathon was able to raise 39,430 yuan in donations based on 1 yuan per kilometer run by a participant. Runners numbers were at three times more than the last year marathon, and all participants competing in three categories which were the full 42 km, half marathon and the 10 km. Last year’s full marathon champion Zhong Yihua was able to defend his title finishing with a time of 3:02:37 hours, Hu Shufen took the women’s title by finishing the marathon in 3:50:35 hours.
16 American English teachers participated in the charity marathon, saying it was nice to see this type of marathon in Shenzhen and they run for fun and they found running over the mountains is challenging, and they think its cool to see many people running. The funds collected in the marathon will provide outdoor activities, excursions and cultural exchanges opportunities for people aged between 14 to 25. A second marathon will be held on January 2 and the deadline for registration is on December 28.
