Animals rescued from being slaughtered for meat
34 cats and dogs were rescued by concerned residents last Christmas eve. The animals were in very poor health and low spirits because of the poor living conditions. The animals were also suffering from fever and parasitic diseases and are being treated right now at the Vagrant Dog Post shelter.
The animals were living in poor conditions for a very long time and had many diseases. Their mental health is much more difficult to health compared with their physical health. It will take them a time to recover mentally with the fear of being killed embedded in their minds. The animals were rescued by members of the Szcat.org and Szdog.org plus with the help of a law enforcement team from the Bao’an district. The rescuers found the animals in a unlicensed slaughterhouse in the Shiyan sub district that are supplying restaurants with animal meat.
Residents are offering to adopt the animals and donate money to help, some even suggested the government departments to take action in closing or shutting down this illegal places and fine people responsible. The team didn’t know what to do with the illegal slaughterhouses since there are no law against slaughtering dogs and cats without a license. The team can only demolish the illegal buildings.
The city market supervision said there are no standards to quarantine cat and dog meat, the biggest problem they face is killing these animals violate no laws.
