Official’s son denied positon in city government
A public position supposedly reserved for the son of a former senior government official in the Hunan Province was dismissed after the subject attracted to many criticism form internet users and residents. The city government of Lengshuijiang gave orders to the local human resources and social security to cancel the employment of Cao Bowen the son of former director Cao Changqing.
A informant leaked a letter from Cao Changqing asking favors from local leaders to give a government job to his son which was alter approved by the leaders. An official also confirmed that there is an unwritten consensus existing within the city government that allows them to employ children of government heads. Former vice director said that this was uncommon since three or four years ago authorities issued a circular stating them to help the sons or daughters of government and party heads find employment in the government.
An unnamed official also confirmed the practice of favoring children of officials have been going on for years. The leaked letter read that Cao Changqing was asking the leaders to arrange a position for his son since his retirement is approaching. He stated that he served the Party for decades and have never asked for a favor. He said that he hopes that his request will be put into consideration and support.
