Universiade UU transcard to help promote Universiade games
A Shenzhen Tong Card with UU, the Universiade mascot was released yesterday to help promote the upcoming games. The round UU transcards will be available in four colors mainly yellow, red, blue and orange. Each card will bear unique numbers and costs about 99 yuan.
50,000 cards will be available to the public and cards can be reserved by calling 11185. Cards will also be sold in post offices and kiosks.The UU Transcard functions exactly the same with ordinary transcard used on public transport and small purchases in convenience stores. The only difference is its round shape and the UU transcard is non refundable. Unlike ordinary transcards which have a 25 yuan deposit is refunded when the card is no longer used.
Around 8 million transcards were issued and numbers are expected to exceed 10 million next year as more Metro lines will start running. Users can recharge their transcards at Shenzhen Post Offices. The UU transcard is licensed by the Unversiade game organizers and have signed more agreements from 30 licensed dealers of different Universiade products. As of now there are 800 licensed Universiade products and expected to reach 2,000 by the opening of the Universiade games.
