Passenger accused airline of discrimination
Shenzhen Airlines was accused of discrimination against two disabled residents on a flight going to Beijing. Entrepreneur Zheng Weining provides employment to at least a thousand of disabled residents and his companion was refused permission to board the plane.
Their reasons that his companion couldn’t walk and might not escape the plane in case of emergency or trouble. They were then ask to take another flight going to Beijing. The duty manager for Shenzhen Airlines said that the decision was for their own safety, and since that the plane have already accommodated a disabled passenger on the same flight and cannot risk on taking another one on board for safety reasons.
The airlines action angered Zheng prompting him to ask someone to throw their luggage and wheelchair into the service counter smashing the glass. Zheng was merely expressing his anger to the airlines for the discrimination against the disabled, he said that disabled people should not be treated like second class citizens.
They were only able to board the plane when he signed a disclaimer stating that the airlines is not responsible if any accidents would befall them.
Zheng said this was the first time that this type of problem happened to him despite his extensive traveling each year.
