Organizers to send Universiade promoters overseas
Organizers of the universiade games is planning to send local tourists overseas in a campaign to help promote the games and Shenzhen. Tourists from different walks of life will be handing out invitations and promotional brochures to people on the street enticing them to visit Shenzhen and watch the games in August.
Ambassadors for the games will be visiting prominent universities to conduct press conferences to promote the games. China International Travel Service Co. have been tasked to organize the promotional tours for the ambassadors of the games to ensure they can travel to all 50 cities overseas and finish in time for the universiade games. This is the first time game organizers have promoted the games using the direct approach visiting places where in promoters can interact with people in promoting the games. This type of promotion will enhance local residents sense of participation for the games.
Local residents are the image of Shenzhen when they travel and they play an important role in promoting the games. Already 16 residents went to Singapore and Malaysia and was warmly welcomed by the local government, universities and its citizens. Another group is also scheduled to visit Hong Kong and Taiwan.
The games are near, and game organizers are stepping up their publicity to improve awareness, since universiade games has a low profile unlike the Olympics and Asian Games. Publicity packages that involves TV, Radio, magazines and the internet is set to concentrate in domestic audiences in Chinese to raise city aspirations and its international profile.
