Shenzhen eighth Project Care program formally launched
With the theme of Care, Gratitude and Reward, Shenzhen’s eighth Project Care was launched across the city. The annual event will be developed in the coming three months by government agencies, communities and companies to show care to the less fortunate people.
A total of 1,292 activities covering eight categories such as donations, disaster relief and charity activities such as voluntary teaching. Cao Fujia a singer was invited by Party cheif Wang Rong and Mayor Xu Qin prior to the launch to be the image publicist as well as Sun Ying a volunteer who quit her job to teach children. Cao was the singer of the Project Care theme song and Sun was one of China’s top 100 excellent volunteers.
Project Care office have started to recruit volunteers to teach in primary schools located in the Hunan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Jiangxi and Guangdong provinces. Each volunteer will receive a teaching subsidy of 2,000 yuan for teaching one term. Deadline for recruitment is on February 18 and teaching will start in March. Interested applicants can submit an application form which they can download at www.szguanai.com and www.szhgong.com. In the past five years organizers recruited around 407 volunteers to teach at 150 schools in 11 provinces that benefited 50,000 pupils.
Futian district will organize a yearlong activity to offer free art training for talented children of low income families. Luohu charity organizations will donate money and provide necessities for disabled people. Free rehabilitation and training for children with cerebral palsy and autism will be shouldered by Nanshan district. Wide range of activities for disadvantage groups will also be organized by government agencies and other social organizations.
