More students volunteers to participate in the Universiade gamesIn the recent months the number of people trying to join the city volunteers association have increased ,with most of the applicants being students. Statistics shown than at least 500 people a month have registered to become volunteers. The highest number seen compared to the past years.

Student applicants increased since most of them want to participate in voluntary work in the winter vacation, and they want to see the Universiade games, also by volunteering they can give something back to the city. The volunteer association are holding trainings sessions for the newly registered volunteers every two weeks with 30 student volunteers attending each session.

Volunteer teams were divided into teams, some were placed in environmental protection, others chose social culture and social research. Still 10 percent of those who chose which team to join consists of students as well. one student volunteer have been doing voluntary work for years and she said it her way of helping children in the social welfare center. This way students have the chance to gain more practical experience.

The voluntary association have 256,542 registered volunteers, and 1465 sub organizations are offering 20 regular services to the public. Shenzhen still plans to do more recruitment of volunteers for the Universiade with a target of 1.27 million volunteers by the time the games starts. So far 70,000 have already registered.
