City to spend more to improve quality of life in Shenzhen
Shenzhen will be focusing on improving the quality of life, a better environment, higher incomes and to reduce living pressures in an annual session of the city legislature. By doing this Shenzhen can attain their goal to become a city of happiness by spending more in improving public services.
The city is said to allocated a budget of 17.5 billion yuan for public service for the year 2011. From the 17.5 billion yuan, 9 million will be used to improve education. 4 billion is said to be used to improve the health care system. The remaining amount will be used in social security and improvement on the public facilities and transport.
More primary and middle school are to be built, to provide 13,000 more seat in the primary school level and 6,500 in middle school. Seven public hospitals are also under construction, health care and unemployment schemes are expanded to accommodate more residents plus more jobs will be created for residents that are unemployed.
The city is also spending around 1.8 billion yuan to subsidize public utilities such as gas, water and public transport.
