Workers denied wages after owner left with salaries
A thousand workers were left hanging by the owner of a company that have declared bankruptcy and ran off with their supposed wages. The workers were angry and dismayed when all they got was a letter of apology from the owner of Pinshu Metals and Plastics Company.
The owner is a Hong Kong woman identified as Zhang left in a hurry leaving the letter and brought with her the workers salaries amounting to 2.5 million yuan. the letter angered the disgruntled workers with some rushing in the factory to try and loot the place for compensation. Fortunately police was at the factory to prevent the workers from destroying and taking company property.
The Pinghu Labor Office intervened and organized agencies to help the workers find new jobs and to arrange ways to get compensation for the employees. The workers would be paid when the factory property after the factory will be auctioned. The factory was registered in 1989 and has 1,553 workers.
