Let’s Get Physical!
But no matter when you were born, the benefits of physical activity are—hopefully—very well known and practiced! Physical activity is not only a way for us to release extra energy (especially all of the students who have oodles and oodles of that youthful exuberance that makes the rest of us jealous!), it is also a great way to relieve stress, improve immune function, keep fit, and have fun.
Of course this is why a quality physical education program is part of our curriculum, but the important thing to remember is that a quality physical education program never strives to exist on its own. The goal of our (and any quality PE program) is to provide students with the motivation and the knowledge so they want to and are able to pursue a wide variety of self-chosen and self-directed physical activities outside of school!
To our students this means that what you learn in PE is just like the reading, writing and math skills (to name only a few) you gain in school; you learn them here and now so you can use them everywhere and for your whole life!
So get out there, and get active! 30 minutes per day is a great place to start! And while you’re at it, get your friends and family involved too… your bodies will thank you!
