Intravenous influenza treatments are dangerous and useless
Experts are warning people who are planning-to get intravenous drips to battle influenza. Unnecessary IV drips can be life threatening. There are three methods of treating influenza namely medication, vaccination and intravenous drip. The IV drip is the most dangerous of the three methods.
Most patients are not aware of the risk of using intravenous drips and most believe that this is the most effective way of treating flu as long as they passed the allergy test. the recent cold weather have driven people to hospitals for intravenous drips treatment. One patient spent 80 yuan on a IV drip at their local health center and ended up with a skin allergy the following day.
Doctors are using the intravenous drips method of treating influenza since its the treatment that gives them the most profit. This prompted two political advisers to propose ways to standardize intravenous drips and ask hospitals to employ stricter management.
Trust between doctor and patient should also be improved. Last year a woman died because of drug allergy while under the intravenous drip treatment and statistics showed that around 100,000 people die from unsafe IV drips. World Health Organizations also said that 70 percent of intravenous drip treatment in China are useless.
