19:00 The adventure starts! Set off from Shekou to catch your overnight train to Yong Ding.

Early morning arrival in Yong Ding where we will be met by our local guide who will take us for a Chinese style breakfast. The highlight of the trip will certainly be the visit to the Fujian Tulou: Inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage site, it is the most extraordinary type of Chinese rural dwellings of the Hakka people in the mountainous areas in southeastern Fujian.
After the visit to the Hakka Roundhouses we will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon we will visit Zhong Gu Chuan Village, Mr. Hu Wen Fu – the inventor of Tiger Balm – was born in the village and the family temple’s architechture is considered one of the best in Fujian. Mid Afternoon depart for Xiamen and arrive in time for dinner at a local restaurant.

Buffet Breakfast at the hotel
In the morning we will take the ferry from Xiamen to Gulangyu Island, which was the center for foreign communities who settled here after 1842 and many Western-style mansions and churches have survived. With beautiful scenery and no cars allowed, Gulangyu Island is accredited as “garden on the sea”. After lunch at a local restaurant we will visit South Putuo Temple, one of the oldest Buddhist education facilities in China.
