More volunteers to lend their hand in promoting Universiade games
Foreign volunteers from Europe are lending their hand by serving at the Universiade Games in August. The 132 volunteers was organized by the European Confederation of Youth Clubs with some volunteers coming from Kazan in Russia. The volunteers will also be attending the world youth carnival in Shenzhen.
800 volunteers recruited by the Hong Kong government will be assigned to different areas in preparation for the games, 400 of the volunteers will be assigned at the Hong Kong airport and checkpoints, the remaining will work in Shenzhen as language interpreters and translators. Taiwan will also be sending 20 volunteers to do service in Shenzhen.
A campaign will also be launched to encourage students to work for the Universiade Games. The Central Committee of Youth League have already organized around 600 volunteers from different universities in the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao. The provincial education department is recruiting students in Shenzhen to help promote the city and the games in their universities after they return from their summer vacations.
The Universiade volunteer recruitment will end in May and Shenzhen hopes that the city can recruit 1.27 million volunteers in time for the Games. The city’s first Universiade volunteer work station is also set to open in May and the remaining 810 work stations will gradually open by June.
