Recommissioned vehicle to be used in collecting blood
A decommissioned vehicle that was once used for collecting blood will be repaired and restored soon to aid in promoting blood donation and the Universiade games. The vehicle is one of the oldest in the country and it will be placed in Huaqiangbei during the Universiade games.
Shenzhen had two blood collection vehicles roaming the streets to collect blood in 1995 and were placed in Huaqiangbei and Dongmen. Shenzhen was the first city to promote blood donation this way. Sadly the two vehicles went out of commission in 2002. The vehicle in Dongmen is now part of a collection displayed at the Shenzhen Museum as a part of a showcase of the history of blood donation. The other was left in Huaqiangbei to continue promoting blood donation.
But a lot of residents say that the vehicle in Huaqiangbei was just left parked and is abandoned for years. Many of the residents hopes that the department can take better care of the car by putting up signs or repainting the vehicle. The department was looking in ways to promote blood donation and decided that the best way to do it is by recommissioning the vehicle.
The blood center now is redesigning the vehicles body to create a new picture and the official logo of the Universiade games will also be painted on its body.
