Metro doing test runs on line extensions
The Line 4 extension of the Metro rail system is undergoing a test run and will be good for operation by June this year. the 16 kilometer northward extension starts from the Children’s Palace Station and ends at the Qinghu Station and will pass 10 stations.
MTR Corp. Shenzhen Branch said that the interior decorations of the stations in the extension lines are almost done. The 20.5 kilometer long Metro Line 4 have 15 stations that starts from Futian Checkpoint then connect with Lok Ma Chau Metro Stop in Hong Kong. Guangzhou Hong Kong and the Hangzhou Shenzhen railways will connect at the Shenzhen North Railway Station which plays an important role in Connecting Shenzhen with the hinterland cities.
Metro Line 1 will also start their test run by the end of this month, and will connect Shenzhen International airport to the city’s center. A 113 kilometers of additional Metro lines are under construction that have 80 more stations will be completed by June 2011 in time for the Universiade games in August.
