Shenzhen to host Botanical Congress in 2017
Shenzhen will be hosting the 19th International Botanical Congress in the year 2017 after the meeting of the event organizing committee. The International Botanical Congress of IBC is the largest meeting of botanists in all scientific fields from different parts of the world.
This is not the only time that the IBC was held in China, and its also the first time the congress ever held in a developing country. Around 6,000 participants are expected to be at the event to hold discussions, exchange views on the issues concerning plant and plant sciences. The 18th International Botanical Congress will be held in Melbourne, Australia from July 23 to 30 were in the Shenzhen event will be promoted.
The IBC gathers all and the most influential botanical professionals in Shenzhen, exhibiting the city’s international profile. Shenzhen will also expect to gain better understanding on state of the art sciences during academic exchanges at the IBC. Shenzhen submitted a bid to host to the International Association of Botanical and Mycological Societies (IABMS) in turn they sent representatives to shenzhen to inspect infrastructures before granting Shenzhen the rights to host the next IBC.
Founded in Paris, the IBC is done every 6 years, where in the IABMS holds elections to determine potential places to host the event.
