Volunteers eager to be part of the Universiade games60,000 people from different parts of the world filed applications to be part of the Universiade games by becoming volunteers, and 30,000 are coming from four colleges found in the city. Applicants composed of Chinese and foreigners are all under 25 years of age.

The Universiade organizing committee is planning to recruit a total of 22,000 volunteers and have set the deadline for the applications on March 31. Those chosen to be volunteers will be assigned to work ar sports venues and offer services such as language translations, assisting in public transportation, health care and public security. Recruitment for volunteer interpreters is starting soon in Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Macau. Interpreters with knowledge of French, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean and Japanese are needed.

Around a thousand volunteers will be chosen to work during the opening and closing ceremonies, and 100 volunteer lecturers are needed to give training courses for volunteers. Personnel experienced in training can apply before March 30 and courses taught will be related to safety, foreign affairs, voluntary service, first aid and etiquette.

Volunteers work stations will be established around the city starting July, 750 of the stations can be located all throughout the city while 68 of the stations will be found inside sports stadiums.
