First Grade Explores Sihai Park
As a part of the grade 1 unit, “Exploring Where We Live” grade one students took their first field trip of the year to a local park called Sihai Park. The intent of this unit is for grade one students to consider how local people use public spaces and resources here in Shenzhen.
Together with many parent volunteers, small groups of children were sent on a scavenger hunt around the park. Some of the treasures discovered are featured in the children’s artwork below.
In addition to the watching construction vehicles, grandparents and babies, and turtle fishing, our students were also given the opportunity to enjoy this lovely local resource themselves.
They jumped rope, hula hooped, rode bumper cars, and played tag. Here are a few of the grade one children enjoying themselves at Sihai Park.
Finally we all had lunch in front of the park’s signature art piece, a massive iron ox.
