City to impose fine for improper waste disposal
As the city of Guangzhou is trying its best to reduce the amount of garbage its residents are throwing, the city government have drawn the line to residents that still does not throw their garbage in the right garbage bins.
The city is now imposing fine to people throwing garbage in the wrong trash bin will now be fined 50 yuan. organizations not following the same regulations will be fined 500 yuan. the new regulations took effect last week that requires all residents to place their garbage into four separate bins. Each bins will be properly marked as recyclable waste, kitchen waste, hazardous waste and other waste.
Publicity for the new regulations will be enhanced to be more publicly seen, sign and programs will also teach residents on proper waste disposal. Garbage classification is not new to the city, since there are trash bins for recyclables and non recyclables are scattered throughout the city. The only problem is that the residents lack proper knowledge on sorting their garbage and just regard the two bins as the same.
Guangzhou have been looking for new ways to teach the residents on proper garbage classification by raising public awareness in surrounding neighborhoods. They hope by imposing these fines they will encourage residents to think twice before placing their trash in the wrong bins.
