Autism rehabilitation center at Shenzhen Safari Park
Shenzhen Safari Park will be establishing a autism rehabilitation center to provide animal therapy or other forms of rehabilitation. Their animal therapy will involve dolphins, other therapy will cover senses, group communication and social adaptation training.
Two universities namely the University of Hong Kong and Central China Normal University will be working together to teach domestic experts and scholars on how to optimize the functions of the rehabilitation center. The park is home for six dolphins that have already helped autistic children since 2009.
Research agencies showed that dolphins and other cetaceans send off high frequency ultrasounds which can activate the human central nervous system therefore therapeutic in autistic children and helping them speak. Symptoms connected with autism as well as repetitive behavior may lessen after repeated interactions with the dolphins. A number of countries already made good achievements in using dolphin therapy in treating autistic children.
