Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC Business Travel Card) business consultation teleconference – Shanghai
Recently the eligibility requirements have changed for people applying for new or renewing their Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation card. A number of Australian business people with extensive travel in the region have been advised they have been rejected on their applications to gain or renew their card. The Australian Government has advised the change has been introduced because too many Australians were applying for the card, but the restrictions introduced mean Australians are assessed on a different basis to those in other APEC countries.
AustCham Shanghai has worked with the other 14 regional AustCham offices and business councils making up Australian Business Asia in sending a submission expressing concerns to the Australian government on behalf of Australian businesses on these changes. The Department of Immigration and Citizenship has offered a briefing session to discuss the recent changes and invites members to attend.
Date: Monday 11 April
Venue: Banksia Conference Room, Australian Consulate General
