Shanghai : Preferred choice for Asia Pacific Headquarters
Top European companies based in China stratified Shanghai as the most amiable area to localize their Asia-Pacific headquarters. The results was based on nearness and immediacy to clients and markets which was decided as the most important reference point for the location of a regional headquarters and in which Shanghai top the criteria with highest recognition.
Out of 15 cities that was included in the survey that was conducted by European Union Chamber of Commerce in China and Roland Berger Strategy Consultants., Hong Kong and Singapore got the second and third position which was favored by respondents as the most preferred locations.
Though Shanghai came short from Hong Kong and Singapore in other aspects in terms of legal and regulatory environment, the study explained and urges Shanghai to minimize the level of bureaucracy, implement stable and reliable regulations, and adopt international monetary and transparency standards in order to realize its goal of becoming an international financial center able to compete with city’s like New York and London by the year 2020.
