Insect Mania Takes Hold in Grade 2!
Students are learning about the life cycle of insects by observing mealworms and silk worms. And when 2nd graders observe, very little escapes their attention, except for the occasional run away mealworm.
In addition to observing life cycles, the Insect and Plant science unit focuses on big ideas:
Where does a life cycle begin?
How do organisms adapt to their environment?
How does environmental stress affect the life cycle of a living thing?
So when you walk by a second grade classroom and see students actively engaged in debates such as which came first the egg or the adult, pouring over non-fiction texts, teaching each other science terminology, or chasing running away mealworms, you’ll know that insect mania has their undivided attention!
