Vegetable growers using polluted water

Vegetable growers using polluted waterA 10,000 square meter vegetable field near Hengling Industrial Zone on Minzhi Boulevard, Bao’n district, the largest vegetable field in the urban area has been suspected watering crops with water from a polluted river near the place, water from this polluted river is black and nasty with waste floating on it, it may also have contain too much heavy metals according to the city disease prevention center that these polluted waters could cause damage to the liver, lungs, kidney and other organs.

Food investigation and quarantine officers of Minzhi conduct an inspection to the said vegetable field but they have found no evidence to prove that these growers are watering the field with polluted water. Dan Kun, director of the city’s food inspection center said that as the city develops, the land can be used for other purposes, moving the vegetable growing to more rural areas.
