Strong thunderstorm expected to hit Shenzhen
A strong thunderstorm with about 20-40 millimeters of rains along with strong winds at scale 8, or 62 kilometers per hour is expected to hit Shenzhen on Friday afternoon, Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory said Thursday.
Residents are warned to prepare for frequent changes in weather because flood season is fast approaching. The expected thunderstorm will not be as strong as the April 17 storms which killed 18 people and injured 155 in Guangdong province. Last week’s hailstorm also created 55 million yuan in economic losses with 45 houses damaged in Guangdong.
Guangdong flood prevention and control management also warned concerned agencies to be prepared for the said storm, monitor villages in low lying areas and rivers, for it might bring heavy rain that may cause floods.
