Classified Waste Collection in Shenzhen

The city of Shenzhen will study on garbage disposals an classified collection on garbage in residential and urban communities said by the city urban management bureau. Garbage will be classify into four categories: hazardous, recyclable, kitchen waste and others.

The 45 percent of the city’s collected waste are from the kitchen waste, the one that will surely causes pollution if not properly dispose, but kitchen waste can also be a possible resource, one that can be use as animal feeds or fertilizers. Inspection team of the environment and hygiene department were assigned to study the classification and properly disposal of waste in which they inspected and observed how Japan and the United Sates are disposing their garbages. The bureau also encourages the residents to do the classification of waste by themselves. As of now, no penalties are being regulated for not classifying garbages.

  1. That sounds good but more advocacy and education are needed for the citizens. An easy job we can do now in Shenzhen is collecting abandoned battery cells in our homes. For a useless battery threw into a common bin will be disposed incorrectly so that it is going to taint plenty of water and soil.
