May Day Holiday in China
Flights to the Xiamen, Sanya, Chengdu, Guilin and Kunming , one of the most popular destinations during holiday at China, will increase it’s fare to full price for Saturday and Sunday. According to Shao Jihong, director of the flight reservation department of Ctrip, the biggest online flight reservation agency in China that the price increase is due to tight supply and demand because holiday makers combined two or three day annual leave with regards the May Day holidays.
A 30% increased was given for package tours to Sanya following the duty free policy that took effect last April 20 in Hainan Province, also an increased from 1,750 yuan to 2,300 yuan per person for the three day package tour. All five star hotel are fully booked and only first class tickets are available for flights to Sanya on Friday.
Qingdao and Dalian, one of the coastal cities in North China increase it’s number of tourist while trips to European countries are more popular this year after the trips to Japan were impacted by the nuclear crisis. Fare prices for European countries also increase by 10 percent due to fuel tax increase in airlines.
