A stricter measures for cleaner air on Universiade
Shenzhen management will make move to a stricter measures in controlling vehicle emissions and reduce power plant discharge to secure a cleaner air for Universiade. Starting on May, all yellow labeled vehicles who fails emission standards will be prohibited from the CBD and roads from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. around Universiade venues and on July, these said vehicles will be totally banned from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the whole city during the opening and closing days of the game events.
Lin Hanzhang, the deputy chief of the environmental protection commission said that there will be more than 310,000 vehicles will be affected by the stricter measures to be implemented. Yellow labelled vehicles, in the city are almost 60 percent of vehicle emissions. The major source of the air pollution in the city comes from the vehicle emissions which produced 70% of the total pollution. A budget of 440 million Yuan is allocated for the renovation of industrial broiler and power plats.
