Quick access to government employee information launched
The Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Shenzhen has now made public the informations of employees working at the 32 departments under the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government on April 20. This information includes the employees’ name, gender, educational background, and the level and category of their post can now be check at Shenzhen Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau website ( SMHRSSB ) at the section “real-name information of employees at the departments directly under the municipal government.”
The head of the SMHRSSB, said that publishing the real information of all employees will improve government transparency, effectiveness and encourage to strengthen public supervision and will enhance the system for restraining and overseeing government employees and agencies. Residents of Shenzhen believed that publicity of real employees records will be a big step ahead and they are expecting more similar information revelation moves. Through this online information, residents can easily post their complains for those who are taking advantage with their positions and showing attitudes of a bad public servant and this will surely improve government credibility.
Government servants showed mixed reactions towards the publicity of their information, an employee of Shenzhen Health, Population and Family Planning Commission said that she does not oppose to it and believes that it is conductive to her work, and help public servants to become more self-disciplined. Another employee from Shenzhen Tourist Administration expressed his worries towards this public information that criminals might use this information in hurting him or his family. He suggested that the personal information of public servants should be open through application in accordance with the law.
In response to the hopes and suggestions of the citizens, Shenzhen Human Resources and Social Security Bureau said that the government will monitor the results from this experiences and enhance it to be more useful.
