SACS Beijing Opera
With 200-year’s worth of history, the Beijing Opera – the quintessence of China, is a comprehensive acting art blending music, performance, literature, aria, and face-painting. This art form uses acting methods to narrate stories and depict characters.
The Bao’an Beijing Opera school led by Ms Zhu Jinling, the very successful student of the most renowned Master Zhang Yanq, will perform some of the repertoires, such as The Drunken Beauty, Celestial Beauty Scattering Flowers, Pear Flower Carol, HuaLian (Painted-face Character), and Monkey King.
In this fun and interactive way, audiences will be exposed to the four means of artistic presentation comprising singing, dialogue, dancing, and martial arts. People will be able to understand the main roles of Sheng, Dan, Jing, Chou; enjoy the Face Painting (Lianpu) as well as the Stage Properties (Qimo).
The Beijing Opera Performance will take place on Saturday, 7 May 2011 at Jing shan Villas, at the public hall (Spah) of Shekou International School.
