Kangaroo Meat Cook Off – Battle of the Shenzhen Chefs
The Grand Mercure, one of Shenzhen’s most prestigious five star hotels, was the venue of choice for “Battle of the Chefs”. The six chefs were chosen from five star hotels and well known restaurants in and around Shenzhen. The competition entailed chefs cooking Kangaroo meat is assorted Chinese culinary styles.
The first round entailed each Chef producing a Chinese meal using Kangaroo meat, in their own distinctive provincial style.
Each chef explained the ingredients they were going to use and then cooked the food while explaining as they went, what they were doing and why.
The six person judging panel tasted the assorted dishes and made the difficult decision of choosing two finalists for a cook-off.
Both chefs returned to their stations and prepared a new dish, the winner being the Mr. Lowson, Head Chef of the Grand Mercure Hotel, who was awarded his first place prize by Stephane Barbazon.
