New energy vehicles to be used for participants of the Universiade games
The new vehicles consists of 1,370 hybrid buses, 270 electric buses, 300 electric taxis and 62 other vehicles that are runned by fuel cells. To supply these vehicles with power a total of 40 charging stations will be available for the games. 9 stations are already finished and the 31 remaining are being constructed.
New energy buses and covers the Games 44 venues will service 77 bus routes. As one of the 13 pilot cities that is promoting the use of new energy vehicles. Shenzhen have also set up the country’s first carbon platform account for users of the new energy cars. With this accounts new energy car users can receive awards or subsidies from fund based on their carbon emission reductions, which are converted from their driving mileage.
Drivers will use a card payment system when they charge their electric vehicles, to avail of the subsidies and awards. Non new energy car users can also avail and open accounts on the carbon platform account which they can use to buy credits by offsetting their carbon usage in their daily commuting.
