Stolen Relics from the Palace Museum Recovered by Police
The Beijing police are offering rewards to anyone who can provide them with any information or tips on the relics that were stolen from the Palace Museum last May 8. So far the police were able to recover 6 of the stolen relics.
The six stolen relics are already returned to the museum, but three more pieces are still missing. The amount of the reward has not been determined yet, since authorities are evaluating the value of the stolen pieces.
The six stolen pieces were recovered form a man from Eastern China’s Shandong Province. The man admitted stealing the pieces by acting as a visitor then hiding inside the museum until closing time. He then proceeded to the northern side of the exhibit by breaking a window to gain entry and steal the relics.
The suspect only ditched the relics when the store he tried to sell the relics to, told him that the relics were fake.
