Students to Act as Language Interpreters for the Universiade
483 students of three different universities in Guangzhou will act as interpreters for non English language guests in the Universiade games. The students will be translating for French, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean and Japanese participants.
The students are coming from the South China normal University, Zhongshan University and the Guangdong University. The 483 volunteers were chosen from a thousand applicants through examinations and interviews with most of the them having experience working as translators in the recently concluded Guanghzou Asian games.
The volunteers will be working for twenty days and will live in student’s dormitories, so that they can be easily reached during the games. They will be also be taking Game designated buses to and from the games. Most of the translators are already excited to work , and most of the are hoping to show how wonderful and great Shenzhen and China to the athletes and participants in the Universiade games.
Organizers of the Universiade games are still planning to recruit more interpreters in Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao so they will have adequate interpreters to serve in the games.
