Schools Allocating Seats for Incoming Students

Schools allocating seats for incoming studentsTwenty three senior high schools in Shenzhen are allocating 2,400 places to junior high school for this year’s admission. This is part of a pilot program in a senior high school enrollment reform.

This will give the students more chances to study in their chosen schools that are nearer to their homes, and junior high schools are given places based on their student numbers. The Guangming New Zone High School is also providing 140 places in most of the 23 high schools. Students that are eligible for the entrance exams are granted 30 points upon admission.

Applications of the senior high schools start today and are scheduled for June 19 and 20 with 56,940 students taking the exams. The college entrance examination is also held in June with 33,166 students taking the exams, a 16 percent increase over the same period last year.

Three colleges, namely Shenzhen University, Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology, and Shenzhen Polytechnic have already accepted 16,500 students this year. 10,500 of them are holders of Shenzhen hukou.
