Hot Weather to Hit Shenzhen Over the Weekend
A hot weekend is expected in Shenzhen this week with a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius. The heat is influenced by the incoming typhoon Songda as it nears the Philippine islands, just east of Taiwan.
The effects of the tropical storm in the Northwest Pacific Ocean will be bringing light winds and haze by week’s end. Tropical storm Songda turned into a typhoon yesterday morning after hitting Manila, and is 1,900 kilometers from Shenzhen; the city’s meteorological observatory says the storm is moving 15 kilometers an hour.
The observatory also said that the city will not experience any rain but it will be hot. The national flood control headquarters has also ordered coastal provinces in the southeast to prepare for the storms and floods as the storm is expected to pass east of Taiwan. Typhoon Songda is also expected to grow into a super typhoon as it is sustaining maximum winds of 15 kilometers an hour.
Songda is the 112th name in the tropical cyclone list and is contributed by Vietnam, named after one of its rivers.
