Residents encouraged to visit local health centers for treatment
Clinics are encouraging residents to visit clinic and community health centers if they have minor illnesses in the future. As this is part of their services since public hospitals are discontinuing treatments of minor illnesses.
Major public hospitals are going to concentrate on serious health issues and illnesses. This is in accordance to a new health reform that is designed to deal with overcrowding in major public hospitals. Xu Sihu, the city health vice director said during a meeting that a reform will take three to five years to complete transformation of public hospitals to level III which is the highest national standard.
The public have long been complaining on how difficult for them to see a doctor in big hospitals, people usually go to hospital to seek treatment of sore throats and colds that can be treated in their local health centers. Sihu said that 50 percent of the resources in public hospital are wasted in treating minor illnesses. He hopes that discontinuing minor treatments can encourage people to visit their local health communities rather than going to public hospitals.
