Health Centers to Charge Fees at a Fixed Rate
Community health centers will be charging medical service fees at a fixed rate of 10 yuan. The service fee will also be covered by medical insurance by july 1st, this is under a plan regarding public hospital reform.
The policy will be expanded to public hospital and health authorities are making pricing plans and standards with the necessary government departments. The new policy will cover regular medical fees, registration, treatment and medication. The reform is to reduce medical costs and hopefully increase the hospital’s income to cover the losses they suffered after the cancellation of the drug mark up they had planned.
Hospitals will be ordered to control labor costs and operating expenses since the government will be including subsidies that will cover drugs costs in hospitals. When the measures push through, hospital officials hope that total medical fees will be reduced.
The government will be asking private hospitals to open up to the pubic, especially those offering special services. The city government will also be controlling the number of public hospitals, with the development of private hospitals given priority. In 2015 the government is aiming to put 12,500 beds and 11,000 licensed doctors in private hospitals in the city.
