Bike Rentals to be Promoted After Universiade

Bike rentals to be promoted after Universiade gamesPublic bike rentals will be promoted in the Nanshan CBD, OCT, and Yantian Districts after the closing ceremonies of he Universiade. By then more bicycle stands will be installed at Metro stations available for bicycle riders.

The promotion follows a bike service trial that was initiated in Shekou in September of last year. The company involved, Shanghai Forever Bicycle, will be providing 365 bikes in 16 stands located at different communities and factories. Forever Bicycle has already issued 3,200 permission cards for bike users, but stopped last March due to a shortage of bicycles. When the metro lines are opened, demand for public bicycles to be used for short trips will be sure to increase, making them essential for metro travelers.

In the city’s 12th five year program, the city transport system will be constructing an additional 135 kilometers of bicycle lanes by 2015. In Shekou alone Forever Bicycle has spent over 2.7 million yuan on creating the bike rental service.

  1. Orange is my favorite color :)

I’ve been curious about local and foreign acceptance of a rental program given that bikes are relatively cheap, + I imagine locations where you can park/retrieve bikes is a challenging convenience concern.

If I stop and think about it the main reason I might utilize a rental bike is I believe thieves would not bother with them. Peace of mind if you will
