City Still in Need of More Blood Donors
Shenzhen is still facing a shortage of blood and city hospitals have been told to limit their transfusions of blood types A, B, and O. with the total blood reserve currently at only 300,000 milliliters.
Even with several activities launched by the blood bank to entice people to donate blood, it still hasn’t met the demand needed by the blood banks to increase their reserves. The blood banks must have at least 300,000 milliliters of each blood type in reserve in case an emergency arises.
If a crisis arises the city might not have enough blood to cover transfusions of Type A, B, and O. Haishan Subdistrict opened a new collection center totaling to six blood collection centers in the Yantian District. The new station received 60 people that graced their opening by giving blood. The city’s oldest blood collection vehicle was parked in Huaqiangbei to help promote blood donations in the city and at the same time celebrate the city’s achievement in gathering donors for blood donations.
If you would like to donate blood (we have and can assure that it is as safe as anywhere else) you can visit SZBC’s website here http://www.szbc.org/
